Senior Software Engineer

Location

Brisbane

Type of work

Full Time

Cubiko is looking for a senior software engineer to join our growing team. We’re a small software company that works with medical, dental and specialist practices to provide data analytics to doctors, nurses and practice managers in easy-to-understand dashboards. Our products help them run a successful business and drive patient outcomes.

For this role you will be working on a mix of holistic platform improvements and stream-aligned development delivering value directly to our end uses. As part of a cross functional team involving data analysts, designers, engineers, and product managers, you will be able to build software to solve concrete problems for our customers and the business. With the broader engineering team you will contribute to designing, maintaining, and evolving the systems that enable Cubiko to function now and into the future.

Cubiko is still at a size where a talented individual can have an outsized impact. At the same time, we care for an invest in our people, and have a strong sense of camaraderie and shared enthusiasm for the work we do.

Depending on the strengths of the candidate, there may be space for the role to shape more into a leadership or management position.

Key skills

  • Write maintainable and robust software, with good test coverage.
  • Work on both clearly defined tasks as well as more complicated problems requiring requirements gathering, solution design, and experimentation.
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, data analysts, product managers, designers, and subject-matter experts to develop software that delivers value to our customers.
  • Engage with partners and service providers as needed to develop our product and integrate with external systems.
  • Communicate effectively with the team to drive quality engineering practices and to share knowledge with fellow team members.

Requirements

Cubiko is a SaaS product comprising a full-stack web application, a data pipeline, integrations with various third-party systems and tools, and a set of cloud infrastructure. Our product is hosted on AWS and Kubernetes, and programmed in a mix of Clojure, Python, SQL, and Typescript. We don’t expect applicants to be familiar with the exact technical stack used at Cubiko. Instead we’re looking for:

  • Roughly 5 or more years of professional software engineering experience
  • Familiarity with any general purpose programming language (such as Python/Javascript/Java/etc.) and a willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with cloud computing

Hiring Process

As a small company, we value an efficient and transparent hiring process. As an engineering applicant this is what you can expect.

  1. All applications will be initially read and reviewed by an engineer.
  2. We’ll set up a short phone screening over zoom to discuss cultural fit and make sure we’re all on the same page around timelines, salaries, and working environment.
  3. We then schedule a technical interview in our offices with a handful of our engineering team. This is a chance for you to get to know some of the people you’d be working alongside, ask questions about what it’s like to work at Cubiko, and for us to assess your technical suitability for the role.
  4. Finally we’ll make a decision internally and get back to you.

Conditions

  • Cubiko handles Australian healthcare data. Because of this, you must
