WOW! 2022 has been quite the year at Cubiko HQ! As we get closer to celebrating Cubiko’s 3rd birthday at Cubikon on the 30th of September. I’d like to take some time to reflect on all the things that we’ve accomplished this year (and the year isn’t over just quite yet 👀)!
Before I jump into this year’s recap, I’d like to say a big thank you to the Cubiko team and our amazing customers. Without the hard work and dedication from our team, and the constant love and support from our customers Cubiko would not be where we are today.
January 2022
Cubiko welcomes James Seymour and Stefanie Fredes to the Cubiko Team
2022 set out to be the year of growth here at Cubiko. In January we welcomed both James Seymour and Stefanie Fredes to the growing Cubiko team.
James joined our data analyst team working to help evolve our platform and to build insightful and valuable metrics for our customers. Stef joined Cubiko as one of our new Product Managers, she works closely with our analytics and engineering teams to help develop and bring some exciting new products to market.
Updates to our COVID-19 Vaccination Support Cabinet
In an effort to keep up with the ever-evolving changes to the COVID-19 vaccinations, we pushed a number of new features live to our COVID-19 Vaccination Support Cabinet to better support our customers. New features included:
- Lists of patients eligible for the booster vax
- Upcoming Appointment tab so that you could see a list of all your upcoming vaccination appointments this week and the following 14 days.
- Vaccine Type column so that you can see the vaccine brand your patients received during their COVAX appointment
Possible Item 93666
As I’m sure we’re all aware many practices rely on incentive payments to help supplement income for services provided. In an effort to help our customers ensure all incentives are billed we introduced our new “Possible Item 93666” metrics. Which allows Cubiko users to identify patients who were billed a Vaccine Suitability Assessment Service during their COVID-19 booster appointment but were not billed the COVID-19 Vaccine Booster Incentive.

While also seeing a breakdown of their individual practices and how they are measuring against the benchmark.

2021 was a big year for the Cubiko team! Our team almost doubled in size, and we hit company goal, after company goal.
As a way to thank our team for all of their hard work, as well as to learn and develop new skills to better serve our customers the team headed to Mount Tamborine for 3 days.

Cubiko Cocktails
Following on from last year’s fantastic Cubiko Cocktails event, we decided to host Cubiko Cocktails in Hobart before the RACGP Practice Owners conference in collaboration with our friends from CommBank. Thank you to everyone who joined us, it was an amazing evening catching up with old and new friends.
Also, a big thank you to the folk at Aura Hobart for the amazing venue and spread, and Nicole from our marketing team for working hard behind the scenes to put together a successful event.
Private Billing Opportunity
Private vs Mixed Billing is a hot topic within the industry at the moment. Through conversations with our customers, we’ve learnt that many are looking to make the transition from purely bulk billing to mixed/private billing. To help support our customers through this decision-making process we released a page of metrics, Private billings opportunity, to support practices by providing deeper insight into their billings so that they can:
- understand the impact of moving to mixed/private billing may have,
- dive deeper into the invoices that are getting bulk billed, and
- explain the benefits to your Practitioners.
Private Billing Gap
In addition to the Private Billing Opportunity metrics we released in May, we also released a suite of metrics, Private billings gap, to help you understand the profile of the private gap being applied to services provided by your practitioners.
You can utilise the data within these metrics to answer questions such as:
- How does the private gap compare from a weekday to a weekend?
- Which items bear the largest gap?
- Which of your practitioners are most efficient at private billing, and which might need some convincing?
June 2022
Quality Improvement: Ethnicity
Completing Quality Improvement (QI) activities plays an essential role in meeting your accreditation and PIP QI requirements.
To continue supporting our customers in their Quality Improvement journey, we’ve just expanded our cabinet to now include recording patient ethnicity. With this new suite of metrics and insights, you can:
- Gain better insight into the trend of your practice’s patient ethnicity recording for a selected time period;
- See the percentage of total active and RACGP active patients that have their ethnicity recorded; and
- Download a list of patients with an upcoming appointment today and in the next 5 days who do not currently have their ethnicity recorded.
- Get an ethnicity breakdown of the patients in your practice.

Touchstone
After months of hard work behind the scenes we were excited to announce the launch of an exciting new feature called Touchstone.
Touchstone is a General Practice benchmarking tool that enables practices to compare key practice metrics against other practices. This has been one of our most requested features, as it allows for practices to gain deeper visibility into their billings and how it compares. Helping practices focus their efforts on improving their overall practice performance.
Touchstone includes benchmarking insights on:
- Practice billings
- Bulk billing rates
- Appointment book
- Chronic Disease Management
- Clinic Utilisation
Dynamic Filter Indicators
To help our customers get a better indication of which filters apply to which specific metrics, we’ve rolled out our new Dynamic Filter Indicators.
The filters located on the sidebar are now equipped with eye icons and orange indicators. Selecting the eye icon will highlight all the metrics/charts affected by that filter, by adding a subtle glow around the metric box.
Additionally, you can get a quick indication of which filters affect a specific metric by hovering over the metric tile. Doing so will highlight, with the orange indicator, which filters in the sidebar will change or update the metric.
900+ practices using Cubiko
We hit a pretty big milestone in July of 2022, with over 800 practices around Australia using Cubiko. I couldn’t be more proud of this achievement! Thank you to our fantastic team and amazing customers for your continued support.
